The Dow and S&P 500 took a tiny step back from their record highs on Friday, although all three major indexes barely budged today.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 8.02 points, or 0.04%,to 21629.72.The S&P 500 Index lost 0.13 points, or 0.01%, to 2459.14. The Nasdaq eked out a gain, rising 1.97 points, or 0.03%, to 6314.43.
Stocks could have done much worse: Despite China's better-than-expected second-quarter GDP growth, Chinese stocks posted their biggest daily drop of the year.
Yet investors are largely looking toward a full slate of second-quarter earnings reports out this week (although today's calendar was light on reports).
